Permit  and Visa Information  for Nepal

Traveling in Nepal is straightforward, but certain visas and permits are required depending on your travel activities, destinations, and length of stay. At Mountain Hawk Treks and Expedition, we assist our guests with all necessary paperwork to ensure a smooth and hassle-free journey.


Nepal Tourist Visa

Most nationalities can obtain a Nepal Tourist Visa on Arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu, or at designated land border crossings.


Tourist Visa Options:

15 Days – USD 30 Per Person

30 Days – USD 50 Per person

90 Days – USD 125 Per Person

Visas can be paid in major foreign currencies. A passport valid for at least 6 months and a passport-size photo are required.


Trekking & Travel Permits

If you plan to trek or travel beyond Kathmandu Valley and Pokhara, specific permits are required depending on the region.

Common Trekking Permits Include:

TIMS Card (Trekkers’ Information Management System)

National Park Permit ( Sagarmatha, Makalu Barun, Langtang, Chitwan etc.)

Conservation Area Permit ( Annapurna Conservation Area (ACAP), Manaslu Conservation Area (MCAP), Kanchenjunga Conservation Area (KCAP), etc.)

Restricted Area Permit (RAP) – special permit required for controlled regions ( Upper Mustang, Upper Dolpo, Nar Phu valley etc.)


Note: Restricted area permits must be arranged through a registered trekking agency and require a licensed guide.


Peak Climbing & Mountaineering Permits

For peak climbing and mountaineering, climbers must obtain permits from the Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) or the Department of Tourism.

Permit fees vary based on:

Height and Category of Peak or Mountain

Which Season you are Climbing (spring, autumn, winter, monsoon)

Group size - How many people in your group.

Special Area & Local Permits

Some regions such as Upper Mustang, Manaslu, Nar Phu, Dolpo, and Kanchenjunga require special permits with fixed entry rules and minimum group size requirements. These areas help preserve local culture and natural heritage.
