The best time for Rolwaling Tashi Lapcha Pass Trek is spring (March to May) and autumn (late September to early November). During the month of spring, you’ll find stable weather, clear mountain views and comfortable temperatures which are crucial while crossing the high pass. In spring, the forests are full of rhododendrons which add extra natural vibes to the trail. During autumn, the visibility is clear and best after the monsoon. Try to avoid the monsoon season (June to early September) due to heavy rainfall and the chances of landslides are high, and winter (late November to February), as the pass becomes icy and snow covered.

During the descent, the walking distance may be slightly longer, as altitude decreases and trekkers feel more comfortable and move faster. The trek begins in Gongar Khola (around 1,440 meters) and gradually ascends through the peaceful villages like Beding (3,690 meters) and Na Gaon (4,180 meters) and continues to Tsho Rolpa glacial lake (4,580 meters). The highest point on this trek is at the Tashi Lapcha Pass (5,775 meters). After crossing the pass, the trek descends to the Khumbu region, and you pass through Thame (3,800 meters) and end the ttrek at Namche Bazar (3,440 meters) or at Lukla (2,860 meters).

Physical Preparation Guide for Rolwaling Tashi Lapcha Pass Trek
The Rolwaling Tashi Lapcha Pass trek is one of Nepal’s most physically demanding treks. It requires a high level of fitness, stamina and mental resilience. It involves trekking across challenging terrain, glacier travel, steep ascents and descents in snow. You can prepare for this trek by doing some cardio and mental preparation. Trekkers will walk around 6-9 hours a day at high altitudes on average, often on rocky, uneven trails and sharp elevation gains. Trekkers with experience in long-distance walking or high-altitude trekking will adapt more easily but beginners can succeed with the right preparation and a slow, steady pace.
Flight and Transportation Details
Although the Rolwaling trek starts from the drive to Dolakha district, the return often ends in the Khumbu region, requiring a flight from Lukla to Kathmandu or Ramechhap.
Flights to Lukla now mostly operate from Ramechhap during the busy trekking season to reduce the crowd and congestion at Kathmandu Airport. Ramechapp is about a 4–5-hour drive from Kathmandu and most trekkers travel there early morning or overnight before their flight. The flight from Ramechhap to Lukla takes around 15-20 minutes.
CANCELLATION
- 20% of the trip cost will be charged for the confirmed trip getting canceled.
- 50% of the trip cost will be charged if canceled between 30 to 10 days before the trip departure date.
- No refund if canceled within 10 days of the trip date or in the case of not showing.
- Regrettably, in the case where the trek/tour cannot be completed due to the customer’s own problem, sickness, or unfavorable weather, there will be no refund.
- If the trekking/tour is extended more than the given itinerary extra charge will be applied accordingly.
- If the agreed trip cannot be organized due to bad weather or any unforeseen events, a similar trip will be organized (in mutual understanding with the travelers).
